Gigrin Farm – Red Kite Feeding Station

Four photographers met up at the weekend and travelled 200 miles up to Rhayader, Wales to visit the infamous Gigrin Farm Red Kite Station. The weather was a mixed bag; one minute it was glorious sunshine the next hail storms.

The photo shoot was pretty amazing, we had exclusive access to the Gateway hide (view from inside hide above) and spent 3.5 hours photographing wild Red Kites and Buzzards.

During this time, I estimate some 150 birds came in to dine on the 20+kg of lean beef laid out by Chris Powell – the farm owner.

A selection of images from all four of us can be found on various wild bird threads over at ukBPN.
